DESCRIPTION

Zgoubi is a ray-tracing code.

Since 1972 it pushes charged particles around accelerators and along beam lines, by step-wise resolution of the Lorentz force equation - and their spins by resolution of Thomas-BMT differential equation.

Zgoubi is used for charged particle and beam dynamics simulations, and for accelerator and beam line design. It can simulate hadron and lepton beam and polarization dynamics in a large variety of accelerators (storage ring, synchrotron, cyclotron, microtron, linear and scaling FFAG, multi-pass ERL, etc.) and optical systems (magnetic and electrostatic optical components and beam lines, time-of-flight and mass spectrometers, etc.). It includes built-in fitting procedures, with a wide variety of constraints. It includes synchrotron radiation Poynting vector tracking, synchrotron radiation energy loss, space charge modeling, several Monte Carlo procedures.

Features

  • Besides the 'Download' button above, a development version of zgoubi package (source code, Users' Guide, zpop post-treatment companion, etc.), subject to frequent updates by its developpers, can be downloaded via 'Code' in the toolbar, 'trunk' folder, 'Download Snapshot'.
  • Via 'Code'' in the toolbar, branches/exemples folder can be accessed. It contains many up and running input data files, and their listing and/or graphic outcomes, amongst which the LHC; polarization with snakes at RHIC; FFAG designs including KUNST rings; serpentine acceleration in EMMA; CBETA ERL; polarization in EIC electron rings; Cornell RCS; CEBAF RLA; PSI cyclotron; muon decay rings; tutorials, etc.
  • Via 'Code'' in the toolbar, branches/publications folder can be accessed. It contains many laboratory Tech Notes and other open access articles, which detail design studies and beam simulations using zgoubi. This publication archive is intended as a help for zgoubi users.
