SCREENSHOTS:

Blockify

DESCRIPTION:

Blockify is used to block access to specific websites. It works by adding those websites to the computer's hosts file automatically.

Blockify should be able to take care of everything for you, but here are some more specifics on how it works under the hood.

It saves an initial copy of your hosts file as a backup to it's AppData directory, you can learn more about the AppData directory here: https://www.howtogeek.com/318177/what-is-the-appdata-folder-in-windows/

So the path for your hosts file backup will be ../Blockify/hosts_bkup

The sites you add to the block list get added to the hosts file located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts and are pointed to 127.0.0.1, this stops those websites from working.

When you remove a website from Blockify, it will unblock it from the hosts file automagically.

If you forget the password you set up, use: blockifyfailsafepassword

As the "Current password" when resetting the password

Features

  • Auto backups user hosts file before any changes then restores after unblock.
  • Password protection.
  • Blockify detects if common web browsers are opened at the time of activation.
  • Websites remain blocked even though application is forced closed (reopen application->block->then unblock to restore website access).
  • Auto blocks both www and non-www version of websites to prevent user bypass.
  • and more.

This is an application that can also be fetched from https://sourceforge.net/projects/tld-blockify/. It has been hosted in OnWorks in order to be run online in an easiest way from one of our free Operative Systems.
