6.25.1. Installation of Attr

Prepare Attr for compilation:

./configure --prefix=/usr \

--bindir=/bin \

--disable-static \

--sysconfdir=/etc \

--docdir=/usr/share/doc/attr-2.4.48

./configure --prefix=/usr \

--bindir=/bin \

--disable-static \

--sysconfdir=/etc \

--docdir=/usr/share/doc/attr-2.4.48

Compile the package:

make

make

The tests need to be run on a filesystem that supports extended attributes such as the ext2, ext3, or ext4 filesystems. To test the results, issue:

make check

make check

Install the package:

make install

make install

The shared library needs to be moved to /lib, and as a result the .so file in /usr/lib will need to be recreated:

mv -v /usr/lib/libattr.so.* /lib

ln -sfv ../../lib/$(readlink /usr/lib/libattr.so) /usr/lib/libattr.so

mv -v /usr/lib/libattr.so.* /lib

ln -sfv ../../lib/$(readlink /usr/lib/libattr.so) /usr/lib/libattr.so
